Principal for the Day

Ken Best got to sit in the big chair as he won the auction item “Principal For The Day,” at the CSA Awards.
Ken got the great opportunity to shadow Ms.Green at RMS/ACE School for the entire day. He was really impressed with how Ms.Green approaches her one on one relationships with students. From greeting them in the morning to visiting classrooms, she is involved. “Ms.Green organizational skills are enormous,” Ken told me. He really likes the small school feel and the energy of the students and staff.

Next year his own daughter will be attending and is pleased to have her be an RMS student.

Social-Lites

Who knew you could take plain boring candles and make them personalized with anything from party napkins, ribbons, to even an extra earring lying around.

Ruby Roselli and Pat Lloyd knew, as these two skilled ladies belong to the Arts and Craft group and showed us how to spruce up our candles. Some of the ladies used electric candles, while the rest had the old fashioned flame ones. At the end of the night every candle had a make over and was ready to be given as a gift or to be added to any room. Even the non creative Social-Lites found themselves having fun and getting into decorating their candles.

Putting On The Glitz

Baby Glitz (Peg Provansal) is the go to lady if you are in need of lots of bling. Seven years ago, Peg, a Red Hat Lady, decided to take jewelry and clothing and elaborate on them to design unique, over the top bling. She dresses items to make them sparkle for The Red Hats and for any lady that likes to stand out. This bubbly personality matches her one of a kind accessories, I can see why the Red Hats have her number on speed dial.

One Hope

On this particular night there were actually five hopes for five great causes. The Twisted Chicken out did their previous wine tasting night with partnering up with Mondavi Wines and their One Hope.

Each wine that was sampled and sipped benefits different foundations. The Chardonnay One Hope fights against Breast Cancer. So, every bottle sold, 50 % goes toward someone in need of a mammogram. If you prefer Cabernet Sauvignon, then 50% of your purchase would be going to help children with Autism. This is so amazing. All the fine wines are wonderful in taste and benefits great causes.

Ray Wilson and Blake Ghavni as the sommelier and presenters of this festive sold out event. Appetizers were constantly being served to compliment each wine. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the food, friends and wine with a cause. So, next time you need to buy one bottle or a box for your office party, remember to go and check out www.onehope.com.

Lovely Lake Lady Lumps

Kelly Bernatene and ten good friends will be in Los Angeles May 10th for the EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women’s Cancer. This will be her fourth year walking.
This year she decided to raise money a little differently and involved the lovely ladies of Silver Lakes. Kelly decided to host a Bunco night for charity. Sixteen of us, dressed in our cancer awareness shirts, enjoyed some food and a very fun night of laughing and celebrating life.
Kelly raised $704.00 and wants to thank her family and friends and this generous community for supporting her and her team.

Bunny Time

The Easter Bunny made a special trip to visit the Senior Outreach center to surprise some seniors at their Easter Brunch. About thirty Silver Lakes seniors got their picture taken with the lovable bunny. After pictures were all done, the Easter bunny handed out colored eggs with prize numbers on them. The smiles on everyone’s faces were ageless…who says Easter Bunny is just for kids.
