The Old Town Victorville Route 66 Historic Society, located by Santa Fe Trading Company at 15492-A 7th Street, Victorville has been busy since their February ribbon cutting.
Old photographs, postcards, posters and Route 66 watercolors were displayed at the Mall of Victor Valley on May 9. Bob’s Tire Service vintage truck was an attention-getter.
Also on hand were authors Dylan Almendral of Images of America, Victorville, and Gary Drylie of Images of America, Hesperia, selling autographed copies. A portion of sales at Barnes and Nobles goes to support the Old Town non-profit.
Volunteers talked with shoppers to promote an interest in the visitor center and the Victor Valley history.
On May 10, people attending the Santa Fe Trading Co’s monthly craft fair also flooded into the society’s office and got a dose of local history featured in 10 themed displays, books, scrapbooks, photos, and brochures. They also had a chance to enter a raffle for a piece of artwork, and were encouraged to support the center and maybe even volunteer.
The historical society information center is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday. Check it out!
