ICS and Community Cooks Compete at Happy Trails Chili Cookoff

The Happy Trails Chili Cookoff was held at Brewster Park in Apple Valley on Saturday, October 18.

Participants include professional competitors in the sanctioned International Chili Society contest, as well as a mixture of local businesses, clubs and individuals competing to win a prize in the Community Cooks division.

The public came out in force to taste and shop their way through booths of chili cooks and vendors. Other food vendors, a beer garden, plus retail and information booths were on site for attendees.

A kid’s zone with inflatables for youngsters, live music and a classic car show rounded out the event.

The Best Booth & Showmanship award went to Charles’ Chili, Apple Valley.

Community People’s Choice winners were: 1st – Apple Valley Police Dept; 2nd – Charles’ Chili; 3rd – Hot for Scott Nassif campaign.

Battle of the Rotary Clubs: 1st – Victor Valley Sunrise; 2nd – Apple Valley; 3rd – Victorville.

First place winners in other categories were: ICS People’s Choice – Armando Sanchez (Westminster); Salsa – Jim Beaty (Bakersfield); Verde – Ken Hook (Riverside); and Red Chili 1st – Chuck Harber (Corona) going to World in 2015.
