Mojave Trail Days Brings a Bit of the Old West to Helendale

Helendale provided a glimpse of the old west with the annual Mojave Trail Days over the weekend of October 4-5.

There was plenty to do, including watching extreme cowboy competitions, Civil War reenactments, a trick horse show, skits by the Sweetwater Outlaws, ranch sorting competitions and much more.

The kids area featured bounce houses, inflated slide, pony rides, panning for gold, rock wall climbing and floating bubbles. One highlight was an appearance all the way from Arendale of “Elsa,” who posed with children for photos. “Your Enchanted Party” service has many favorite children’s characters available for parties (760) 953-2718.

Live entertainment featured Charlie Ray, Working Poets, Will Roberts, Duke Michaels, Terry brown and the Country Nation Band.

Stagecoach rides were a popular feature, drawn by beautiful white horses.

Mojave Trail Days is put on by the Helendale Community Services District, with the help of Silver Lakes Citizens on Patrol and fire department, and many sponsors.
