Lucerne Moose Lodge is a Diamond in the Rough

Story & photos by Carole Reece

A Valentines Dinner and Dance was held February 14 at the Lucerne Valley Moose Lodge. A prime rib dinner was served, and attendees danced to music selections of Johnny Cash, Jimmy Reed and Elvis performed by High Desert Entertainer Jeff McCasland “One Man Band.”

This lodge had been out of commission after an electrical fire on June 26, 2012 resulted in more than $400,000 in damage. Due to the lack of hydrants in the rural area, fire fighters had only internal water tanks in their engines, resupplied from several water tenders.

The rebuilding of the lodge was a trying time for members; normal activities were halted, and meetings were held at the local VFW. It is now fully restored to a beautiful state-of-the-art building, as those who attended the dance will attest.

Don’t let the unpaved roads discourage you, the Lucerne Valley Moose Lodge is a “diamond in the rough,” and they would love to have you visit them.

Members of the Loyal Order of the Moose International founded 1888, they support Mooseheart, Child City and School, plus Moosehaven, City of Contenment.
