Shrek, the great, green ogre came alive at Apple Valley’s Civic Center amphitheater, and adults and children alike were mesmerized by him.
The ogre came out during Shrek the Musical, a play put on by the Town of Apple Valley in hopes of repeating the succes of last year’s production of The Music Man last year.
Judging from the crowd’s reaction, it was another big hit!
The musical was produced and directed by Cherie Glisson, of Creative Arts Theater (CAT), and billed as one of her favorite musicals.
Apple Valley resident Richard Rorex helped sponsor the production, along with the Town of Apple Valley, Apple Valley Communications and Solution Strategies.
CAT is an affiliate fund of the High Desert Community Foundation, and provides scholarships to educae young actors and actresses by way of experience on stage.
Apple Valley Councilman Curt Emick, who originated the town’s concept of annual summer musical productions, hopes there are more coming in the future.
