During a ceremony held at Desert Valley Hospital on November 18, hospital founder Dr. Prem Reddy and his wife Venkamma accepted the national Healthgrades 2015 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence. Desert Valley was the only hospital in San Bernardino County to receive the award.
Healthgrades Maggie Foley presented the award to Reddy, stating that seven hospitals in San Bernardino County were eligible for the award, but only Desert Valley received it, ranking in the top five percent nationally in 21 of 32 categories.
Medicare patient data from 2011-13 was used for the analysis, specifically focusing on outcomes in terms of mortality rates and complication rates, Foley said.
Desert Valley was commended for achieving the award through its commitment to core values and due to its dedicated teams and staff who have made it their mission to provide quality healthcare.
Dr. Reddy praised the employees, nurses, doctors and the governing board. He also stated that his company, Prime Healthcare Services will be adding four more hospitals by early January.
