The 2nd annual Dia de los Muertos was held in lower Victorville on October 25 on the grounds of Victor Valley Memorial Park and Mortuary on 11th Street.
The event is a traditional Mexican holiday that honors those who have passed on to the afterlife.
“We have a much bigger crowd this year,” said Jennifer Hernanadez, Director of Sunset Hills Children’s Foundation.
“The feedback we had from last year was amazing,” she said of the fast-growing event.
The crowd saw entertainment from the Ballet Folklorico Flores del Desierto, Chavos KS Technoband, aztec dancers and theatrical performers.
“This is one-of-a-kind event in the High Desert,” said Hernandez.
The event was held early to attract vendors who attend events in other cities.
Hernandez acknowledged that the event may have outgrown the site and discussions on where it may be moved are ongoing.Parking on the streets caused long walks for many.
